The 2010 harvest was special in more ways than one for Pauillac Fourth Growth Chateau Pontet-Canet (just next to Chateau Mouton-Rothschild).
In the first place, the chateau, already certified organic, with the 2010 vintage, was also accorded official biodynamic status.
"From the time you apply to when certification may be given, there is a waiting period of three years. Thirty percent – representing 24 hectares – of our vineyards is now farmed biodynamically. No winery in the world has done the same, to the same extent as us," claimed Chateau Pontet-Canet's proprietor Alfred TESSERON.
Chateau Pontet-Canet 2010 is also celebrated for having been recorded for posterity by a Chinese photographer, CHEN Huizhou.
Alfred TESSERON had originally sought the help of Chinese Bordeaux Guide's publisher CH'NG Poh Tiong to recommend a photographer from China.
CH'NG, in turn, asked Arcy YIN, Senior Associate Editor of China's Food & Wine magazine, who she thought would be the right person.
The following photo essay by CHEN Huizhou is the fruit of that collaboration.
