CHATEAU BELAIR-MONANGE - THE NEW NAME OF AN OLD ESTATE IN SAINT-EMILION

Story & Photos By Ch'ng Poh Tiong

Following the acquisition by Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix in 2008 from Pascal DELBECK, Chateau Belair, Saint-Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classe "B", has been renamed Chateau Belair-Monange, in memory of Anne-Adele MONANGE (1887 1972). Married to Jean Moueix, she was the first woman in the Moueix family to settle in Saint-Emilion in 1931. Anne-Adele Monange was mother of the late Jean-Pierre Moueix (1913 to 2003), Christian Moueix's grandmother, and the great grandmother of Edouard Moueix, managing director of Chateau Belair-Monange.
